The link above leads to a web page that includes a short article that reinforces what most people are thinking about the people they see in the media. It states that people see the airbrushed images in the media and beleive that this is a totally natural being. It is totally unrealistic to look like an airbrushed image, basically because it isnt real. These images are fixed and people need to know that so they don't set unrealistic goals in their mind! To test a person's "media savvy" there is a quiz that follows the brief description of how the media is deceiving. The quiz was designed to test teenagers and observe their knowledge of how well they are aware of the deceitful media. One of the questions asks: how much time did supermodel Cindy Crawford state were spent to edit her photos. The correct answer is two hours! Two whole hours were spend trimming her armsto appear thinner, erasing cellulite, and altering her face to look flawless! If all this time is spent to perfect a supermodel (a woman who is already pretty flawless as it is) then imagine the time that would be spent on an average person. Imagine how people gazing at these images feel about themselves when they begin to compare themselves to the "fake" image. The quiz also includes the question...." Of the three billion women in the world, how many are supermodels?" Well, beleive it or not the correct answer is....astonishing, so find out for yourself by taking the quiz on the link above. This article also includes other links related to helping people love their bodies and understand what is going on in the media so they can avoide getting caught up in it.
